The 15th edition of documenta took place between June and September 2022, a contemporary art exhibition held in Kassel, Germany.
I attended with a group from the Contemporary Art Society for three days in June, this is the first opportunity I’ve had to visit, and I was completely blown away by the scale, variety and ambition.
Indonesian artists Ruangrupa curated this truly international exhibition, who then invited other artists to share the space and practice Lumbunga, passing down funds and resources to create something groundbreaking. Described as a ‘big party for artists’ by a fellow visitor. Unlike a traditional art exhibition, the work continues to be developed during the 100 days. I’d love to be able to return in September.
